On How to make a Fabulous Painting and Talk About It Elegantly
Ivan: "I think in art school, people want you to know what your work is about, so that when you leave, you can keep making that work." Bruce: "And make a business out of it. So you’ll be able to talk about it (your work) elegantly."
On The Purpose of Art and How It Is Positioned
"I started thinking that the work has to be integrated into the culture, and the fabric of things, so we’re all working with the fabric, we’re all together in this."
On The Secret of Success
"What is actually happening is that a lot of the things have got hidden by the speed of which information and works are being made.... I do think the secret is to not to have a grey floor with white walls these days.... Do the opposite of everybody else, that’s the key, do the opposite."
On The Public
INTRODUCING: "Do you think it’s important that the public understand what you’re doing (your art)?" BM: "No, but I have to say, the public, when they look at something good, they get it."
Just Do It
"You mustn't do what you ought to do. Mustn't do what you should do. Do what you want to do."
