OVERZEALOUS, a group show, brings together nine new artists. All born in the Eighties at the height of capitalism, these artists were strung on by the sensationalism of the Nineties and the self-conscious, highly educated, insular vernacular of the recent past. INTRODUCING brings together a selection of artistsunited under the multi-cultural umbrella of the global contemporary art scene. Picking up from a crashed art market, this diverse group works with new concerns and an awareness of the art patrons’ growing hunger for cultural capital. No longer is it enough to be concerned just with the art world; these artists reach further, allowing everything to influence their work; interested not only in what effect they have on, but also how they are affected by, the world. OVERZEALOUS is marked by a shared aesthetic, yet the artists simultaneously occupy conflicting positions; their diverse practices drive contrasts and tensions within similar discussions. About guest
